She was caught sharing over 2000 files though. Your mainly only going to get tracked down for your uploading. These are who are targetted. Downloading will always go on while people are uploading.

I dont understand, why was she only targeted on 24 songs???? I am sure that the record companies will not obtain the money from her.
On a side note, if a cd of music is given away free either as a sample or as an attachment to a magazine is it still illegal to upload this????

If someone is clever enough to work out downloading then Im sure they understand uploading, especially that most programs tell you what your uploading etc. Im the same with my music directory, 2000 songs is nothing really, 200 albums? Easily done IMO.

If you're torrenting (which everyone is now that free kazaa and napster type sharing is no more) then YES you ARE sharing as you upload as you download.

Yeah you upload as you download, not many ways to stop that but regardless, once its download it and you remove it of the torrent list then your ok, You cant upload anymore than youve downloaded that way and would hardly cause you a problem. Its those than leave their PC on 24/7 running the applications and constant uploading that will be caught way before the others.

With most torrent clients its a simple process to limit either uploads or download, right down to actually disabling one or the other. So you don't have to upload as you download.
