Default Show us your home cinema

Any one else got photos of their home cinema setup. I posted this over on AVforums but wondered if anyone on Scoobynet was into home cinema.

Panasonic 42" HD TV with Q accoustic speakers. the white box is the control box for the JP screen.

108" Ebay electric screen with remote. The curtains and pelmet have blackout lining and make the room pitch dark even on a sunny day.

View from front of room

AV cabinet with Glass door (SKY HD, Tosh DVD, Dennon AVR1906 amp and my old Denon CD player radio. The top box you see is an HDMI switch so I can switch sky from TV to PJ)

Back of AV cabinet. I knocked a hole in the wall (this is a cupboard under the stairs. I have speakers in the kitchen wired up to the amp so I can play music)

Optima HD70 projector (high def)

Harmoney 1000 remote which I'm still working with to get it set up.

BBC HD

Discovery HD

Get your photos up.

Panasonic TH50PX60, Pioneer 7.1 surround, Pioneer 656. About to swap the DVD player for a Sony 970 DVD-R(W)/HDD/FV with HDMI upscaling, although I may use a Mac Mini as a HTPC Media Server.

A couple of pics of what mine started out like, quite a lot of it has changed since though, but these are the only pics I have

This Rack now contains my Amp, DD decoder, Laserdisc, DVD, Xbox, AC3 decoder, Wireless Internet, and you can just about the Projector (which has since changed as the bulb eventually blew on that one Sharp X1VE, now using an Infocus, freebie from work )

You can see where the projector protrudes into the front living room, it has a panoramic picture covering it when not in use, speakers are still there, but wires are all hidden away now (Mission Surrounds), the Sub is located below those speakers next to the couch for added rumble

the screen has since been replaced with a full width motorised screen that goes virtually to the floor, the couch has been relocated onto the back wall underneath the projector

The front speakers have been wall mounted (again Mission 75's ) and the centre speaker mounted high up on the pelmet above the screen

Oh and the curtains and curtan poles all changed to accomodate and to look better too

I take it you dont have any problems with heat with what the kit will put out, and the oven when it is on?

I know, I know, it's only a little TV At some point I'll probably go HD and when I do I will replace it with an LCD/Plasma setup.

As you can tell, I have a bit of a thing for B&W speakers. Had a set of 601's in the UK that my brother is looking after and just had to get some replacements over here, and well, why not spec out the whole package with B&W's. If I go 7.1 I'll probably move the front 601's to the side and get a pair of 683's up front.

My pics aren't very good - I'll have to work on getting better ones. I also think there is something funky going on with the camera or the lens as nothing has straight-lines but the build is perfect in real life

Projectors are great with games consoles

I have my xbox hooked up to mine, can get a bit of motion sickness creeping in on downhill ski-ing or rally driving games

My 1080i projector in use with my Xbox 360. Screen is around 80-90 inch depending on what I'm watching/playing.

I painted the projection wall with Dulux icestorm 5 (battleship grey) all of the of the Av forums said that was the way to get a cheap screen

I'm not and have never been big on Home Cinema or Hi-fi and I don't watch a great amount of TV. My livingroom set up was about £2500 for the gear and probably about £300 or so to get the false chimney breast built. We'll call it £3000 all in. Today a similar spec set up would be at least £500 cheaper.

What I can say is that I have never regretted spending that money. Even just watching the news or the simpsons is enough to allow me to appreciate the set up and for movies and xbox it's amazing. Defo one of my better life decisions and anyone that has a 26" CRT taking up half the livingroom that is currently sitting on the fence should absolutely take the plunge.
