OK - another question. I have a website and have been checking on the stats page.
Please can someone explain what the difference is between a 'session' and a 'hit'? Does a hit mean when someone looks at the site - or does it count each page they look at?
Reason I ask is I got nearly 900 'hits' yesterday but only 40 or so 'sessions'.
Is there an idiots guide to this anywhere?
TVM!

OK - that helps a bit. But what does 'files requested from the server' actually mean? Does it reflect the activity of people when they're on the site?
Sorry to sound so noddy about this.....

In it's basic form, hits are when a page loads and if a page contains lots of pictures then just 1 visitor can collate a lot of hits. For example I've just had 25 visitors in and 1340 hits. It's really just a request of files from a server.
Sessions are a unique visit by 1 person. Therfore you had 40 visitors and just discard the amount of hits as unimportant.

It's a new business and tempting though an ad on Scoobynet would be, I'm not sure I want it trolling to death.
Rest assured you'd probably find it terribly boring.....
