Default Hmmm new phone dilemma again.

10 months into an 18 month contract I have just called Orange for a new phone, and they have kindly offered any phone of my choice for free...

What shall I have. Baring in mind I have a Nokia N95 and a Nokia 6230i at present....

Could keep, or could sell it... not decided yet. Any thoughts?

I agree it looks nice but the touch sensitive buttons on the front will drive you nuts and the battery life is poor.

Brett, nope, cant make a decision for myself at all, far too many other things on my mind like...... picking up the new car lol.

Just thought I would ask the masses what they think of some of their experiences with handsets rather than using my usual bias.

The N95 is indeed a tool to be had. I love mine, and am so glad I got it when they launched One of the best I have had in years, so that and the 6230i make a perfect little duo.

I think I just want something to try then sell tbh.
Was looking at the Blackberry 8800. Good resale on them at the mo, and always fancied trying one out .

Blackberry's are good but no real point ules you go for the BES server etc.

I've just got a SE W880i and have to say its a gorgeous, lightweight phone with a decent set of features

Nokia E65 is pretty good. Quite a good size and the wifi feature is very useful!!!

Battery on my N95 has been fine. Can get a bit drained when you are using bluetooth and GPS or the Wifi as the same time.
But as a whole for "average" useage, its excellent.

E65 seems like a baby version of the N95, but E series are more "business" phones are they not? So prob good for functionality. Will take a look
The E61 looks like the good option between branded phone and Blackberry

Seems a pretty low spec phone compared to the E61i
Compare phones - GSMArena.com

I think the dilemma at the mo is Blackberry style or normal phone style. I do like to have email etc on the move, but in past history stop using it quickly when the novelty wears off lol. No actual need for it.

I think I will take a lil reeeee-wind and check out some of the more practical phones.
Options are only actually the ones available on Orange UK Home Page

How'd you manage that?

I had the same scenario on Friday (11 months into an 18 month contract) rang orange "sorry sir you can't upgrade until the end of your 18 month contract.

They did offer me an upgrade while still in contract but said I had to pay £200 for the option to upgrade when I shouldn't be. The thing is when I said "ok, I'll do it if I can still have my free upgrade at end of 18 months" they said "no, you'd be starting another 18 months from today"

Double standards or what!!

Another SE w880i fan here.

Many people have commented on mine that they want one.

Excellent super slim phone with the usual features and the smallest 1GB card I've ever seen.

My sister had the same. Told no chance.

Thing is I run 4 contracts with them, so tend to get looked after. My last call to Orange I was going to cancel one of the contracts due to low usage, and not being worth the money.
They halves my line rental, doubled my call/text allowance, and sent me a Nokia N95 the day they came out £15 line rental, with almost the same allowances as Dolphin 35 lol.

Now with THIS contract I am 10 months in, and I just fancy a change This is my main phone that most calls are made on.
I am due to cancel one of the contract next month, so lets see what they say when that comes around. Cant see me keeping it, so no amount of bribary will work this time lol.

Now the hard part, decide which phone lol. There is nothing fantastic on offer right now. And I cant decide if I replace my 6230i which I have had for a year now, and actually KEEP the phone, or get something different to mess about with, play with, and sell on.
The up side of that is I can get say a Blackberry, try it, sell it, buy a new 6230i and still be up on the deal

As far as thin phones go, im not a great fan. Got a Motorola Sliver thing, and hate it with a passion! 6230 style phones suit me, small enough for the pocket and not fiddly for big hands lol.
