Question Flight prices

Anyone 'in the know' about air ticket prices?

Looking to fly to Boston USA at the end of August.

Wife was looking on-line over a few days and return flights were just over £800 for 2 adults and a 1 year old. This was BA and Virgin.

I said to book them and I booked the time off work.

Next day I say 'Have you booked them?' and she hadn't. Logged on and they have jumped to over £1400!! They have been at the same price for over a week.

Do you think they will drop back down again considering flights are not until late August?

Is there a pattern to the fluctuations in price?

Hope someone can help or I'm not going to Boston!

Phil

I'm afraid it's completely unpredictable. You just have to keep trying, even on different sites too like Expedia, BA , Virgin etc. They literally can change by the hour sometimes.

clear your cookies ,

sometimes sites raise the prices after you have looked at their site .

first time is a look to see what the prices are . cookie saves it .

next time is to book it , cookie knows youve been here before and raises the price .

not sure if thats true but have been told that a few times

Doubtful, it just means I'd go to a competitor and book them instead.

I was in the same situation as this a few years back the prices do not follow any routine just seem to go up & down look at alternative carriers to reduce the costs.
