Quick question..gots some lads doing a foreigner...
Have got two lads putting up a scaffold, they picked up the job from a contact that is now too busy. He had quoted 250, they took it on without looking at it on his word. Talking to them, they are saying its more of a job than they had been told and had they have quoted it would have been 300 plus.
They seem a decent pair of blokes, and I don't like to see people getting stiffed, and it's friday night, and they still have another hour or so to go.
Do I take the hardball stance or give them 280?
Interested in peoples opinions

If you're happy with the work give them the 280 + a cold beer - hot day to be working outside. I know I've not long got back from work.

Give them the price quoted. Its not as if your going to need anything from them again is it ??
Keep the cold ones for yourself.

£250.00 + Tax and NIC if they give you NI numbers. Otherwise 20 quid each - they can hardly sue you if they are illegal

Give them the £300 and then report them to the revenue for being cheeky.

Now you have to be careful.
A bloke down the road from me fell out with some scaffolders for some reason...the consequence of that was they didn't come back to take it down. Thus his house was surrounded by scaffolding for the best part of six months
So, do they need to come back to take it back down? If so, they have you by the *****

Who takes a job on at an agreed price without checking what the job is? All's fair in business, it's their loss.
