Anyone watching the build up to this one all week on Sky Sports? Christ these two are up for a real banging contest -- two absolutely fantastic atheletes going toe-to-toe beckons. I'm in awe of the levels of fitness these guys have -- the rope training is beyond belief! Add into the mix that Mayweather's father is coaching La Hoya adds a bit of bite as well and Mayweather has been baiting La Hoya for years so this is going to be circa Benn and Eubank all those years ago. A classic is on the cards!
If the hype lives up to it, it's gonna be one helluva fight. Bring it on! I'll have me beer and crisps ready
Get your Sky+ set up and enjoy it multiple times

Really enjoyed the build up to the fight on sky - documentary style.
Tough one to call. Mayweather is a great boxer, unbeaten and on the top of his game. De La Hoyer will be the heavier fighter on the night and has the ability to pull out a result but is a little past it in IMO and does tire at the end of the fight.
Too close to call betting wise (would not bet against de La Hoya) so I'm just going to sit back and enjoy with a few beers.
If I had to predict I would say Mayweather on points.
PS. Don't think Mayweathers dad is with De La Hoya for this one though - he is just hanging round his son as an 'unpaid' advisor (hanger on).

I must admit that for the first time in a very long time, I'm quite looking forward to this one
I was very impressed with how well they both carried themselves in yesterday's press conference, it made a refreshing change

Cant wait for this! Out in Leeds and then back to watch it with a load of mates. I really hope De La Hoya beats mayweather up. He's a class fighter but chats crap. I think De La Hoya's size could be the factor. Going for him to win in 10

I can't wait for this either but I'm going to have to! Got a scooby meet and outing on Sunday morning lasting most of the day so I'll have to record it and stay off Scoobynet
until I get to see it later in the day. It's gonna be a cracker! More build up on Sky Sports tonight

What time & channel is this on?
I don't have Sky, but hoping to take over a friends lounge.
I know it's on SP3 about 7pm on sunday, but can't wait, or risk knowing, until then.
Gonna be a cracking fight. I'm wanting De la Hoya to smack some sense it FM. One of the BIG legendary fights.

Should be a good fight. De La Hoya's one of my fave boxers, but unfortunatley, I think Mayweather will stop him late on.
Floyd Snr usually trains Oscar, but not for this fight. He trains one of De La Hoya's boxers (as he is promoter/fighter), who will be on the undercard.

Aye, he used to, but there was a dispute over money and the obvious family ties:
BBC SPORT | Boxing | Mayweather Sr to join son's camp
(*anyone else think he (Snr) lOOks like Predator on the second pic.

I would guess that would be a good estimate...although I'll not be awake
Whatever way you cut it, this is a fight not to miss IMHO. Looks like Sunday will be a good day for me -- out with a load of mates in a Subaru club, a good drive round some really nice windy roads for 3 or 4 hours, lunch at a vineyard and a lovely drive back home...beer and a boxing match to round off the day! Can't ask for more than that! Unless some SOB gives up the result!

I thought it was a great fight. Two top class boxers. I had it as a draw or De La Hoya by one round.

I'm the same as you guys, I had De La Hoya ahead at the end of the fight...I guess it's true that American judges score differently to us in this side of the pond.

Yep. I had De La Hoya by 2 rounds, thought he'd done more than enough in the 1st half to hang on
Yup I thought Hoya should have pinched it too. Was a good battle, worth staying up for. Dont think the good lady was happy about us sleeping on the sofa Saturday night though
I had small punt on Mayweather to win on points despite saying in this thread I wouldn't bet. Drink and internet access to betting sites don't mix for me!
I thought it was draw or De La Hoya win when I watched the fight but looking at the punch stats, Mayweather landed approx 80 more (220 to 140 (from memory. Assuming thats right (and not sure it is as a lot didn't look to land) then he deserved to win.
If De La Hoya had better stamina he would have won the fight.

De La Hoya was the defending champ. I think that should have counted for more, as it shouldn't be the Champ chasing the challenger all night and throwing more, only to get a split against him.
