Default phone upgrade with O2.. pushing me to 18months

why are mobile firms pushing ppl to 18month contracts.

I'm on 12months with O2, 200free mins and 500 free text = £25 at the mo.

I want to ugrade phone to a K800i (3.2maga camera)... but the guy on the phone said wait till th K810i comes out at the end of april

or go for a Nokia 5500 now.. as its good on building sites they said!!!

but when I say i wantto keep the package I have now they tell me it will be for 18months instaed of the 12months I've been on before.

So I said I'll think about it.

Everyone want you to go 18months though... why??

i like a new fone every year and not every 18months.

Is everyone on here now 18months?

i need to keep my mobile number for work reasons, so really O2 seem to have the best deal.

I also don't want to be chasing to claim back half price line rental too.

I don't know what to do

Phil

Thought you could just take your mobile number to a new provider?

I just finished an 18 month with T mobile.Never again.It's too long.

New Nokia 6300 looks smart

phone up and ask to speak to someone about cancelling your contract .

i done this last week . i got a new phone ,350 mins , 300 text and free off peak texts for 20 quid a month .

could probably pushed for more mins or texts but i was happy enough going from 35 a month to 20 .

just tell them your leaving if you dont get the 12 month contract .

im sure you will be able to get a free upgrade at the end of twelve months anyway dependant on your usage .

That's just what has happened to me!

02 have gone from offering double the minutes at half the price of new customers, to offering a £5 discount for 12 months, on an 18 month contract.

That's why I now have a PAC code and will be getting a "free" xbox 360, possibly on orange (although I haven't discounted going with 02 again) for the same price.

It may be a bit of a pain, but you can possibly get a better deal elsewhere. Especially if you want an xbox or PS3!

I'm with O2, do 12 month contracts every time and get a free upgrade every time... I am a high user still benefiting from my 50% staff discount for life though despite leaving O2 2 years ago
If you use your phone regularly DONT get an 18monther unless you have a nice phone tucked away somewhere for a rainy day... It's too long and your handset only has a 12 month warranty...

The market is saturated now - everyone has a mobile and there is no real new business market, therefore they want customer retention, 18 months = 6 months longer with them

where?

and is it £15 pm coming out your bank account without having to claim the rebate?
As I've had now two people tell me its not that straight forward when you have to send off your bills to prove it.

That should really be PAC, Porting Authorisation Code.

It's to transfer your number to another network, as soon as you use it, then your current contract will be terminated.

I was also offered "500 minutes, 500 texts for £15" deals a couple of years ago, 02 seems to have changed a lot over the past year or so!
