I think it was a little earlier as i had a 72 beetle years ago and i was about a year to old to qualify.

I asked about this a while back as the blackbeast would look great with silver on black plate, ala the ZZ plates it was delivered on. but was told that car had to be registed/made before 70 something, so though I know it's old it is not that old, mores the pity.

What's the standing with transfering the reg number from an older car which does have the black and silver plates, to a newer car, ie; mine??? could you then retain the black and silver plates?

I have seen quite a few new cars with black and silver plates, so there must be some way to do it, or maybe they are getting pulled over all the time for it??

Unhappy

Black/Silver or Black/White only if the vehicle is registered <= 1972.

Getting an older plate that qualifies and putting it on a 1972 > car is illegal and you run the risk of being pulled. (ooerr).

Up to you.
