I need to re do an old XL sheet with new info but I can't remember how to do a drop down filter box type thing.

I need to be able to click on a cell, which will bring up a drop down list of choices to go in that cell (I am using the data which needs to be a specific type of entry e.g. DEC02 and not December 2002 etc). If someone tries to type something that is not on the list then I want an error box to appear. I also need a pop up box that describes to the user what to do with the cell in question e.g. "choose form the list for this cell".

I know there are some XL wizz's out there who have come 'up trumps' before.
