Default heads up scooby scuba divers who've been to Sharm

We're off to Sharm booked the flights, sorted the diving now just need somewhere to stay.

We're diving with EDC at Rus Um Sid but cant decide whether to stay at a hotel close to the dive centre so we can have more of a lie in, or stay in the Naama Bay area?

Basically we dont want anywhere too quiet and ideally want to stagger just a few yards to our hotel after a beer or two.

Any suggestions appreciated.

p.s. If you want to join us that would be great, then I have to spend less time on my own with *him*

Im so jealous,My local dive club run trips there, but i never have any Hollybobs left.

Personally,i have never felt the need to go to Sharm as it is a major destination for divers, may be beautifull from the vids i have watched, but to me, it seems to overcrowded to me.Friend of mine has proprty in Sharm,he Loves diving there when its not busy, but hates it when its "overcrowded"

I can't wait until next year when i will be diving in Australia,Maldives and South East Asia.

Hope you have a great time Brum,And i wanna see your pics of the cliff.

seemed fine just now when I booked the coach to the airport, the hotel at the airport.
and yesterday when I bought a new laptop to save all my dive info and pics onto.
Oh and clothes and a new suitcase the day before that.
Edit to add.... I forgot about the waterproof camera housing as well.

As one bloke at work today said, "F**k me Fuzz, you know how to spend money."

When I first started diving, it was Sharm this Egypt that....
I refused to go because it seems to be every man and his dog go there.
Ended up going to the GBR instead that year.
Nearly booked Egypt though this Christmas as you know, but then the thoughts of the crowds cam flooding back... <shudders>

I'll tell you the same thing as I tell everyone else who goes there:

Slip, slap, slop!!

Nothing to do with applying liberal suncream; it's the sound you make if you eat their seafood!!

My dad had a diving accident there and after having his heart started again, had the pleasure of spending a couple of days in a decompression chamber courtesy of the egyptian navy

Does that count?

Learnt from it though, as now he is (IIRC) a dive master

Brumdaisy

Didn't reply originally as the thread seemed to be disapearing off topic.

The EDC centre is at the front of a hotel in the Haddaba area near Ras Um Sid Lighthouse. My personal recomendation would be the Renaissance Golden View resort about ten minutes walk from EDC. (or 50p in a cab)

Renaissance Golden View Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh: Fine dining and stylish décor in South Sinai, Sharm el Sheikh

Have stayed there 4 times so far and will be going back again!!

Have looked at several hotels in the namma bay area and didn't fancy any of them. Would prefer the £3.50 (8 minutes) cab fare from Namma bay to Haddaba. Most of the resorts in this area run free bus services into Namma Bay anyway.

Have you paid for your diving with EDC or have you got a good deal?
Learn't to dive with EDC in Turkey but used DiveIN
Dive In
based at the Renaissance each time there.

I can ask my dive club if you like.
They have booked loads of trips to Sharm and know the place well.
Haven't managed to finish work early enough to get down there yet though..
