If you'd done it once, you might have got away with it, but doing it 3 times means it's obvious you were taking advantage.

Happened once where I lived. I went down to the ATM, but word had spread and the queue was round the block.

The bank admitted they had filled it wrong and did not chase the money they lost!

Depends, if it's your own bank that runs the machine they can debit your account, if it's another bank you'll get away with it

I think you could get done for theft actually. Someone already has been on an overpaying ATM. Just because it gives out the incorrect amount it isn't yours to keep. The fact that you tried it 3x just means there is even more malice and intent to steal from the bank.

when i was a student i took £20 out of a machine at it gave me £40. they took the £40 from my account but as it was the bank's mistake and i went over drawn they credited the charges etc, which was fair enough

I think the bank would find it very hard to PROVE it gave YOU too much money, unless it's a machine in the middle of nowhere it'd of been used by loads of people by the time it's discovered.

You could explain 3 withdrawels quite easily, 1st - getting money, 2nd - you got out less than you needed by mistake, 3rd - your g'friend asked to borrow some money...

if it was me i'd of kept withdrawing till i run out of dosh!

but thats just me!

Doesnt cost me anything to use them anytime I want to either

Cash machine in town gave out double what you asked for on Thursday. Mate went down and used all his bank cards taking out a grand. No fekker rang me though Not that I would have been in a state to get down there anyway.
