Try it with Tornados, they're louder and have afterburners!

Had one feckin' low flyer over here this eveing... scared the holy crap out of me, AND I was using my VERY noisy vacuum cleaner at the time. I thought the bloody walls were coming in. Going to find Wittering's number ready for when they do it again. Silly beggars.

Yve, wanna swap houses? Send 'em over here, I love it when the fast jets come over but it's not nearly often enough. We had a Jaguar and a Hercules over last week and the Herc nearly took the roof off it was so low

Don't know why they both ducked for?? The planes were never going to hit them, as they were too high up.

I was at the end of the runway when concorde took off, that was fecking noisey and as it went over head you could see the blue flame in all 4 of the engines. Was also in a plane behind concorde when it took off, our plane was shaking when the concorde pilot hit the gas

Also stood at the side of the runway in the Falklands when 2 Phantoms took off then also as they landed again and taxied in to the hangers.

Remember once nearly having the roof of our house taken off by a Harrier coming into land at Barton Aerodrome in Manchester, that was funny.

JCKO, and you are right too. It was just as easy to do that in the good old triangle.

Believe me, I ducked last night when that one went over... and there was a house between us! Its a reaction. Another just went over , Sal... not so low this time. We are right on the route they take from Wittering to the north sea where they play thier war games. Normally I don't mind seeing and hearing them going about their business, after all, they're practising to be able to look out for me and you in case of attack, but some DO take the biscuit.

Good news that no-one hurt.

Biggest fright I got was up in Fort William where they often fly low. Usually you hear them but this day we were driving along with the sunroof open and the git came across behind us and straight over the car. I just about ran us off the road as I nearly sh*t myself.

A while ago I was on a holdover course. My squadron was deployed elsewhere and basically The Boss told me to make myself busy and keep out of the way. So I blagged some time with the guys who flew Hunters from Yeovilton. These things were stuffed full of electronics and used to simulate various other aircraft, missiles etc for fleet exercises. Oh, they were two seaters - handy for a helicopter pilot to get some stove-pipe time

Anyway...

We needed to pop up to Scotland, as you do. Did the mission and had some arsing about time left over. The proper pilot used to fly up that way and demonstrated a game they used to play.

There's this long road by the side of a loch. There's a hump-back bridge part way along. The idea is to find a car driving along the road and come at it from the other end. If you get it right the first the driver knows of you is as he crests the bridge...and sees a windscreen full of Hunter heading straight at him! For fullest effect you put the nose light on and stay below 50 feet...

One of the clearest memories I have is sitting on an outcrop of rock next to Hard Knot Fort (Lake District) which overlooked the next valley...

As I'm sat there this Harrier comes skimming down the valley and I'm looking *DOWN* at it!

The pilot glanced up at me and waved as he went past... I just stood up with my jaw hanging open watching this plane disappear up the valley. Just awesome

Good one Simon The A5 pass is a good bend to take in a Hawk, you have to take a racing line through the corner and you wind up flying over a lake below the A5 on the way to Anglesey.

When I was training on the Harvard (Texan) in Canada the train engines used to have one light on the front. The Harvard only had one landing lamp so we used to fly down the railway line at night towards the train which used to wake the drivers up as it was a single line.

Sinful we were

Yep same thing here except we were looking down on Tornados in North Wales flying through a valley, did the same thing in the Falklands with the Phantoms and a C130 doing an ammo drop, most bizzare looking down on a plane flying below you when you are on the ground
