Angry ebay cancelling item

Ebay have cancelled an item of mine that was to finish tonight as it ‘contravenes the cost avoidance policy’ !!! its been on the site for a week !!

I (in my additional information area) basically said if you are paying by Credit Card via paypal add 3% !!

Going to have to re-list it now ..... not happy ! all the people that placed bids are going to think i'm a right tw@t !

I dont think you should charge an extra 3% to use paypal...you should wear the cost as you are using a convienient service...

Its the sellers problem if they want to use paypal.

Can't see hows that a problem, paypal charge 3% so what's the issue to pass this to the buyer. If they wish to use this method of transaction.

Especially considering the hassel Paypal causes in any pay disputes, they aren't worth incorperating the 3% into your final bid amount as they most certainly do not give you peace of mind as a seller (if not, less), however if the buyer wishes to use them, they should do so at their cost. Same as postage and packaging costs.

As a business, outside of ebay. We do the exact same with American Express, due to their extortionate transaction fees.

Right or wrong, its against Paypal and Ebays policies to surcharge for Paypal payments. The reason it was on for a week is that nobody had reported it to Ebay before then - Ebay dont look for people surcharging themselves, but a bidder must have noticed it and reported you.

It is perfectly legal to surcharge for credit card payments, but its against Ebay and Paypals terms and conditions ( you know, the ones you agree to and dont read when you set up accounts with them ;0)

Simple choice really - either sell according to the rules of the site, and if you dont like them either dont sell on Ebay, or dont accept paypal.

Ebay do not allow any extra charge for using Paypal. It's in their T&Cs.
Someone has reported you doing this and thats why ebay have pulled the auction.
Just increase your postage. Thats what everyone else does. Saw someone selling a photo(autograph) with postage of Ł15 Ripoff gits.

I even put an apology in for the cost of the postage because the item whilst small is very heavy !!!!!!

More fool me !

I honestly didn’t think it was a problem, never mind I will re-list the item without the add on line.

ebay's policy on people putting a 3% surcharge on the price because of paypal is pretty clear , they have not allowed people to do that for a long time !!

What's wrong with putting 'not sky+' in a title then?

Something to note.

You can charge an additional fee for credit card payments, but only if you are handling the transaction. i.e, directly with your bank or credit card company, through your business.

Using PayPal as a service for the same transaction is against eBay's policies.

If people have that much of an issue with the 3 or 4% fee then just add that amount to your reserve price. Problem solved. At the end of the day if you want to use their service you have to abide by the rules.

Because it wasn't Sky + perhaps?

It is called keyword spamming and is not allowed and eBay are getting much tougher at clamping down - even ending listings with maybe even an hour left.

Its like listing an Impreza for sale and putting - not Focus RS Audi S3 etc

Because your advert then gets hits from people searching for different things.

because people seaching for a Focus RS or an Audi S3 would find your Subaru... it was a way of reaching a bigger audience...

frustrating though if you don't won't a Focus or an Audi.....
