Im from the Brighton area, used to work on the door at many of the sea side clubs.
Zap / Honey on the Sea front - Late closing, pure dance so not the best if you want to chill out.
Po Nana's, can get busy, nice girls, nice mix of people though
Main Street / Western Road, Creations / Event - Full of stag / Hen dos, and rubbish. Lots of fights, Creations is a meat market :-)
Brighton isnt as gay as you think. Looking at down at the pier, the left hand side of Brighton is gay, right hand side is hetero.
Now summer is here, some tasty girls about !!!!
Might see you around as Im out in Bton tonight and Saturday :-)

Second that - being out and about in Brighton for years.
Zap. Honey Club (For House and Garage etc) Funkey Bhudda lounge (a bit small) Funkyfish is more retro music but quite a few birds. Avoid west street as my mate works the doors there now and it is just crap. Club New york ( for salsa latin stuff). Left brighton about six months ago for Germany - so Simon K is probably a bit more up todate.

Just read simons post again
Ponanas - is quite good sounds and good for wimmin.
Audio the old (escape club) mixed crowd but used to be good
Avoid Midnight Blues under the Grand Hotel
Although the club under the Metropole Hotel was refurbished not too long ago and wasnt too bad during a previous visit.

Midnight Blues / The Junction - Music is pre 1960 / women, well , grannies arent good unless you've polished off 10 pints of Stella.
Where you go depends what you seeking, I tend to start off in Witherspoons on the cheap stuff (Western Road), then move on into the Lanes. Browns, Frikin, Toad House.
Clubs, well the type of club comes down to what you want. If you want to dance, pill up and go wild till 4am, then go down the sea front. Zap / Honey are tremendous for music. Both have several rooms playing different stuff. Becareful if you come out late, that area can be a bit iffy for guys robbing you of your phone etc. The beach has an older crowd, good music, with a less hard dance mood. Im 34 and I like the Beach. The Honey seems to be aimed at the younger clubber. Boy, the girls in there :-)
Most places now have late licenses, so you dont really have to go to a club anymore.
If you seek the ladies, well, Creations is good for the easy lay, so is the Event 2 (Huge club, plenty of places to perch, slip your drinks, eye the ladies, build up courage to say hello )
Some of the more trendy places will require queueing. Ponana's, like many others, have a 200 guests limitation, so you will need to queue outside early. I, myself, would never do this, as this means when you eventually get in, the place is rammed, ordering a drink is a nightmare. I would go off to a different place.
Also, dont worry about the gay scene, you tend to get some fit looking girls in there, many are air hostess from Crawley etc, out with their gay mates. Also, these clubs arent like the Blue Oyster :-), and if truthful, tend to have a better vibe, less agressive and less trouble atmosphere.
However, dont bother with the Concorde 2 club. Its miles down Madria drive, its crap, and not many taxis go up there when you want to get home. Waste of time that club !!!!

I like the finky budda, but I find it too small, or some people could say that its cosy. ITs on the ramp going down to the sea front.
Where ever you go, you'll have a good time. :-)
