Rally Masters - best tenner (budget label) you'll spend on a driving game.

might have to disagree there Daz because a tenner will buy you Grand Prix Legends

Still don't think that there is anything out there that gets close for realistic car physics (plus you get to drive the ring !)

So you've never tried Sportscar GT then?

Asda were flogging it for a fiver a wee while back.

If you get an analogue joypad or steering wheel then this game is superb. I think it failed because it was too realistic, ie; if someone tapped your rear corner on a bend then you'll spin out, which for the general game playing world is not what they want.

It is exactly what I want though and it make a great multiplayer game. They even use proper cars, Porshe 911 GT2, BMX, Panoz etc etc.

It has a kind of Gran Turismo feel about it as you earn money to upgrade your car.

There are a few bugs with the game but nothing too serious.

Dave.

I'd go along with McMiata Man. SCGT is excellent in standard form, plus there's an active community that is developing new cars and circuits all the time. It's closely related to F1 2001, so there is a good chance that soon we'll have SCGT 2 using the base of F! 2001 with proper sports cars.

GPL, by a long shot

The Rally Trophy demo has the best rallying physics I've experienced to date, very similar to GPL in this respect. Full game should be out by Xmas...hopefully

But with all these things that are more simulator than game, be prepared to put in a lot of hours to be competitive

XRS

Are you sure? It'll be cool if true, but there's no mention of a release date yet from the official forum at http://forum.jowood.com.

I almost hope it's not true, otherwise they'll only be able to fix some controller issues (that have surfaced since the demo was released) with a patch....

Cheers

Viper Racing is damn good once you buy a few bits for the car - very realistic handling.
I like test drive 5 too cos I can drive Edinburgh in it.. sort of.

I think GP3 is still one of the best - also, Colin McRae Rally 1 is still a really good sim, the graphics are old hat now but the driving is brillo

McMiata Man,

I just thought (now my brain is wine of the red liquid) the exe file I sent you is for when you have done the ban_scene_mas update - it won't work otherwise.

I haven't tried racing over the net - my connection at home is consistently slow, and I'm not sure whether people are using modified cars or not!!

I tried the GP 500 accident mode at Imola, and my son and I had a great laugh following all the bikes and riders through the air!

I'll dig out a few piccies of the scoob when I get home.

Cheers
