Default any policeman that can help?

Advice needed.

opposite Jos house a BMW has NO TAX DISC.. out of date by two years!!! so obviously no Insurance.
and the rear drivers wheel isn't straight and balding.. so not road worthy.

police came round last week and stuck a sticker on it saying that it had been spotted on the road driving with out a tax disc!!!
last night the car had gone, so we thought it had been removed!!!

NOW what can be done.. as this moring as I left Jos house.. the bluudy car drives round the corner with it rear will on a tilt and the guy blattently driving it around still. I'd say he has no Driving license.
The house he lives in has multiple occupencey (its a 2 bed semi) with eastern europeans renting every room thta can fit a bed in it!!

can I ring crime stoppers up?

Police can't do anything unless they actually catch the guy driving. I had the same problem with 2 of my old neighbours a few years ago, very frustrating. Even though they went to/from work at the same times each day, the police didn't seem interested in coming out for 10 minutes to catch them at it - not enough resources apparently.

Not a gripe at the the police btw.

Shame they do not see the bigger picture.
half hour spent here could save a life or accident later.
Letting this go on is not right and about time the senior Police stepped up and got on with proper Policing and cutting down on real crimes.

Or if the police are not intterested then perhaps take matters into your own hands and torch it - i would not advocate it but i can see the sense in it.

Chances are if he dies not speed he will be fine and not a problem

Agree with you Paul, but when did common sense come into the powers that be setting the rules !
Chances are if the guy is not speeding they wont be interested !

Try reporting them to the DVLA instead of the police.

As crazy chick states, the DVLA deal with out of date tax, the Police only report it to the DVLA.

Where do yo live by the way?

Phil, do what Crazy Chick says. They need a registration plate and location. I tried to shop my birds brother who didn't have tax on his car (albeit for a month, but I wasn't to know he was intending to get some) but I didn't know his reg and they can't do anything without a reg plate, despite me telling them his name and address.

The tax is a DVLA issue. All police do is report the car as being on a public road without tax.

The driver needs to be caught driving the vehicle or admit to it being his car parked on the road, or the car be registered in his name and parked on a road without insurance to be processed for no insurance.

If the tax is so far out of date it won't be in his name.

Councils have the power via DVLA to clamp and then confiscate the car.

Try reporting it to the council and DVLA. Tell the council it's been dumped and is a danger to local residents.

Untaxed cars are my little project in work as I get loads of results via this route. 95% of the time an untaxed car (with the driver in it) is hiding a multitude of offences ranging from no insurance to theft and burglary that quite often ends up in an arrest.

If the car has no tax then it can be seized by the local council/DVLA. The owner will then need to present a tax disc for the vehicle and pay a fine & costs before he can get it back.

Police can issue a HO/RT/1 to the owner for insurance and MOT if its parked on the road even if its not being driven. If he has no insurance, then new powers allow the police to seize the vehicle. If the person states he no longer ownes the car, then again it can be seized.

If he is caught driving it, then a whole boat load of offences come into play.

As it stands, the car should not be on the road for much longer....

The Police have the power to remove the vehicle if it is sitting on a public road whilst uninsured and/or un-taxed.

The council have a power to remove the vehicle if it is sitting on a public road whilst not taxed.

Council.

Police will not attend an untaxed vehicle as it's not a crime, and frankly not a huge thing in the scheme of things .

However, if the car's on fire and .................................................. ...........

Joking ish

Talking about the huge scheme of things... Maybe ask a copper that would normally reside in a van with a pointy laser thing to pop out to do some REAL work? Bald wonky wheels sound like a genuine hazard to me...are there any ststistics to prove that D

Before you post about that, you should learn the way police work.

TRAFFIC do camera stuff, and other police do the burglary, theft, abh, murder and drugs stuff.

Traffic are about 5% of police.

Agreed, had something a little similiar near me. I waited until the bloke was away on holiday, called the council, they stuck a notice on it the following day. 48 hours later, bye bye Chavalier
