GB Plates
So what are the rules these days? I know you used to have to display a GB plate of a certain size on the rear of your car, but with these new num,ber plates which have the country code on them do you still have to?
My understanding is if you don't have them on your plates (and technically I think those are illegal in the UK at this moment) then you have to display a sticker.
To avoid mucking up my paintwork, I stick mine to the inside of the rear window with two small blobs of Blue Tac.

If you have the EU symbol and the letters GB on the plates, you are road legal in the UK and do not need a sticker to travel in the EU.
If you have any symbol other than the EU logo and GB you're not legal (so you're not allowed Scooby type logos there).
I believe this to be the case from checking up when I got my GB plates.
You are right that the GB plates didn't used to be legal, but they became legal when the new style registrations hit the streets - I thought all new style registration plates were going to have them on by default, but it would seem not from what I see on the roads.
Simon.
