Working from home - Any advice/help?

My wife is thinking about working from home. With a daughter who is school age and a 2 year old baby, her employment opportunities outside are limited. She is a qualified RGN but the shift work means that it is impossible for her to be around for the children for holidays/sickness/emergencies etc.

Does anyone have any advice on where to find contacts to working from home or indeed know anyone who has started this type of work. Obviously at the moment, my wife would consider any sensible type of work but she doesn't know where to start. Anyone have any working from home ideas etc.

Any help/advice/experience would be very beneficial.

Can anyone help?

What had your wife in mind? RGN is nursing, right/wrong? Don't know how to work that from home, but..

Our next door neighbour has become registered in Cambs as a Child-Minder & looks after our Ez 2x a week. About 10hrs day @ minimum wage + ex's (swimming etc). She treats Ez as an extension of her own family & works around that. We set up a contract between ourselves & she is insured and has been checked by Cambs council.

With a nursing back-ground & being an experienced mum ( ) then something like this might be what she would be looking for.

FBS - If she would be interested in a bit of hard graft, followed by earning twice as much as you let me know. My better half has set up nursing type business (under my guidance) which looks like blowing my income out of the water in 18 months from startup. It depends on rates and agency availabiliety in your area, but I think every hospital is inthe same position.

PTMW - Nice idea BUT my wife has her hands full looking after our two, let alone any more!!!

Fast Bloke,

My Wife is a Sister, she is also pregnant, and we are about to move house back to Yorkshire. Once she gets there, she is going to have about 5 months twiddling her thumbs, so she might well be interested in your Nursing Idea. But I have an inkling as to what it maybe...

Got the email thanks.

My wife has had thoughts about that line of work before.

She has a few questions to ask your wife that cover the legal side of things. I'll get my wife to reply to your email, probably sometime on Tuesday. So watch out for an email to pass onto your wife.
