I need to get my wifes engagement ring valued for insurance purposes. It was bought in Australia and ahs a valuation certificate, but insurers wont insure it without a valuation in UK pounds, and will not accept the current valuation in AUD converted to UKP on todays exchange rate.

Does anyone know a jewellers in the London area where I can take it to get valued ? A lot of jewellers want to send it off to be valued but wont insure it for the value it cost to send it off (if you know what i mean) so I am not having it sent away.

Try an auction house like Bonhams (Knightsbridge IIRC)

 

Go to your local boozer, someone will put a value on it

Depends what it is. Most independent jewellers will help you out, ideally you would want a jeweller who is also a dealer, so not H Samuel or Elizabeth Duke Try yell.com and look for dealers of second hand jewellery and watches.

Hatton Garden, EC1 is a good recommendation from before if you are talking about a ring or diamond jewellery.........
