The Lowry for me everytime... Exemplary service etc but no flippin pool

Too late for me, but I've stayed at the Midland a few times. The rooms are freezing, dark, noisy (there's about a 2 inch gap at the bottom of the doors), and needed a refurb about 20 years ago. It is central though. One of those grand hotels from 80 years ago, now faded

Website looks pleasant, it had a refit in 2004....not sure whether that's the entire place or the understair cupboard.
