Default getting owed money from Ex girlfriend??

hi all about 2 years ago i lent the girlfriend at the time 1500£ to help her while at uni, about 18months after we split and now shes gone really nasty especially when i ask her about what she owes me, any ideas on if i can get this money back? nothing was signed only proof i have is my bankstatements but that doesnt mean anything, do i have any leg to stand on if i took it to small claims court or when to solicitors etc??

thanks

Rich

Got any naked pics of her?. made the mistake of lending my ex £500 to go on holiday,2 months after we got back she cheated on me and threw me out of my own flat. she told me not to expect any of the money i had lent her back, until i reminded her of some photos that might be winging their way to her parents if she didnt cough up. job done

Probably not worth the hassle, with solicitors and courts etc could cost more and no legal aid to fight the case but not sure, just be nice and ask her in a friendly manner

TBH, i know it hurts like ****, but forget about as it will be an awful lot of hassle. I've been in exactly the same situation and in the end, I just wrote it off

First thing that sprung to my mind when I read the problem too. Vex her head (somehow) and she'll be glad to give you it back.

You got away lightly IMHO

If you can REALLY afford to swallow the fifteen hundred big ones without it crippling you-it makes you the better person

You can sleep at night knowing you helped her when she needed it

She goes to sleep knowing shes a cheap what-car-credit skank ho' who had to fleece her boyfriend and she can have the stentch of being that skank for the rest of her days

If she goes through life borrowing without paying back she will be always be far far worse off than you

Onwards dear boy

Just the small matter of the massive illegality that is involved with blackmail.

Surely it's only a threat when you are recovering goods that technically belong to you. Once you've got the £1500 back and then demand a further £2000 for pissing you about, now that's blackmail.

**** the £1,500 - send the pics to her parents. Or maybe do one of those big "Birthday banners" for the end of her road .

Been through close to the same thing, went on holiday, bought her some nice stuff, got money to start renting a house, from family. She would never pay any back and gets nasty when you ask her about it.

There is always other ways, i have pics and a video, but it isnt worth the legalities to show people or post it..

Karma will come and get them in the end, i got mine, and now i am fine.

Even thoguh you loved them, you eally know actually how nice they are inside after something like this dont you

£50 small claims court fee.
Sorted.
She'll prolly pay up once she recieves the notice from the court.
Can do it all online now as well, do a search for Money Claim Online.

Never lend money that you can't afford to lose.

Without evidence of the loan, I wouldn't fancy your chances in court. I suppose it might still be worth trying, but personally I'd treat that as an expensive lesson.

My experience of lending to friends cost me a lot more!

If it's a loan, she has to repay it. If it's a gift, it's too much, so tell the taxman.

Don't suppose you've got e-mails or SMS message sof the like to hold up?

What does that mean? You can give whatever you like from income. Gifts from capital are IHT chargeable but usually exempt, if you live.

I'm assuming she didn't have a big income, as a student borrowing money, so why would the taxman care? can't see how she'd have a tax liability, or any liability unless she's done a tax return for some strange reason and not mentioned it.

On the other hand, you would be alerting the Revenue to the gift you've made, which is a potentially chargeable inheritance tax event.

What a strange woman

I'm yet to meet one that has yet to turn down an offer of money - especially if it's theirs
