Moral or not?
go for it, morals dont come into it... you aren't hurting anyone so wheres the problem?!
retailers screw us and their suppliers / the world generally on a daily basis, so get payback where you can!

Fine line though, if i took the original back boxed and bought a new one, that would be ok, but buying a new one and returning it on the old receipt is probably a bit naughty. Still 200 notes though.

I don't think you have to have the box, just proof of purchase.
Edited to say this is generally true but may be part of their 28 day return policy.

Was it a shock to find consumer electronics cheaper a few days after Christmas?
Is that the same as the trains stopping every winter when it gets cold and strange white stuff falls from the sky?
Keep the telly and learn the lesson.
IMHO

I doubt they will give you the refund.

nope - buying a new tele two weeks before christmas just cost him. How does this sound - you knew the price when you bought it and you were happy to pay it. Live with it. You take it back, get a refund save 200 quid - they send it back to the manufacturer (as they haven't a box so they can't resell it - manufacturer loses 600 quid or whatever, so the next 600 of us have to pay an extra quid. If you want to be fair and hinest about it, put a post on here asking for 600 people to give you a quid cos you wanted the TV in December at January prices..... basically the same thing, but you are being honest

Yes, I agree. That's what I said most stores operate this policy. It isn't a legal requirement. Although there is some "change of mind" legality within a few days unless they specifically have terms against it that you are shown and agree to.

Hang on, missing the point here, I don't have the box, I have no plans to return the TV I have. My suggestion is to buy a brand new boxed TV, and take it back unopened using my old till receipt.
For the record I was happy to pay the price I paid, I'm not pissed off it has dropped £200 and in the general scheme of things, not a great deal of money. I knew the chances of getting a good deal in the sales, however I have enjoyed the set for nearly 3 weeks now and wouldn't have waited even in hindsight.
Free £200 though

*what* has that got to do with it...he's hardly robbing an old lady, its a store. They make enough money as it is. Aside from this, someone at work today took something back to boots and they only gave the price it is now in the sale.

"OK Sir, you want to return the TV. That's fine - do you have your receipt? You do, well that's great. One second Sir while we swipe the barcode on the box.
Excuse me Sir, the barcode registers as a For Sale discounted item which doesn't match the receipt. Would you have a moment to step this way......"
