Default Portable MP3................

The old boy wants one for Chrimbo but it looks like a minefield out there to me. Ipod is the obvious choice, but for the money i want to spend (£60ish) i'm limited to the shuffle. Am i right in saying that you can't pick your track??? If so then that's no good.
Basically, i need a simple unit with half decent sound that a technophobe can use. Having never seen or used an MP3 player i'm kinda hoping to be able to plug it into PC and drag and drop the mp3's onto it.

Asking too much?

Pretty sure you can select the track you want from the shuffle, but there isn't a display to tell you what it is.

As for drag and drop of songs onto it, alas you can't do that with any iPod, you'll need to use iTunes to get the music onto the iPod, but it's not that difficult to use.

Sorry, should have clarified what I meant by "display". I should have said LCD Type display to show track information, which the Shuffle does not have.

The Philips HDD players are very good value - the earphones are outstanding!
