Selected for the Commonwealth Games!!
I've just had written confirmation that I have been selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in March 2006! I'm going for 50m 3 Positions rifle (prone, standing, kneeling) and 10m air rifle. My sister is going for 10m air rifle too.
I well chuffed! All the miles I've put on my scoob in the past 2 years going to training and competitions all over the place (including Europe!) have paid off.
More info on the Games can be found here

There is always going to be some debate about which country I should shoot for as my Dad is English and my Mum is Scottish. As I have lived in Scotland all my life I have thought it makes sense to represent Scotland. My Dad doesn't seem bothered that my sister and I are both representing Scotland because at the end of the day if you win a medal it doesn't matter who you are representing, it's you that has had to do all the hard work.
PG, to answer your question: I believe I am a good shot but I am not a carer. I think you have to be qualified for that through the NHS or something :-)

just to give you an idea of the commitment of the USA over the rest of the world..
a certain competitor who was selected for one of the earlier games, was given 4 years off by his firm to train for the games... needles to say he brought back a gold....
if only our firms would show that commitment to there employees
congrats..
if you want some photo,s to stick to the target faces, i can make several suggestions

It's slightly different in Scotland. Other than one grant of £1000 I got in 1999, I've never had any funding from anywhere other than my own savings and my parents contributions. I'm hoping to get some funding before the Games but there hasn't been anything confirmed.
If anyone has any suggestions for funding then please let me know.
Cheers,
Graham

I shoot air rifle and .22 smallbore rifle and I am willing to shoot against you in either ISSF event for a substantial amount of money and/or car. The gauntlet has been thrown down CyprusScooby.
