What would the world be like if....
America didn't excist.....
just talking about the USA really, if it just wasnt there, and never had been...
loads of people seem to have a problem witht the yanks, was just wondering how different the world would be without them, dunno if it'd be better or worse...
who would be the world superpower in their place, Russia, Germany, us?
would we of won the world wars? would there of been world wars?
would we be more or less advanced than we are now?
would we of developed atomic weapons?
would islamics still hate the west?
just thinking o a friday afternoon, not siding with or against the better or worse argument!
feel free to discuss!

Perhaps even worse if we were run by China, no bitching about the government allowed there. It gets blocked by the Great FireWall of China.
To be honest, although things aren't too brilliant at the moment with the US running things, we should be thankful because we could do a hell of a lot worse.

- the soviet union in our area. japan in the east. imagine the ruthless, despotic pan-european & pan-pacific charnel houses that would have resulted. and would still exist. doesn't bear thinking about.

- interesting as the US joined both long after they'd both kicked off and the root causes were european. WW1 would have lasted longer but probably ended the same way. WW2? without a german a-bomb, they'd be speaking russian in calais. the pac-rim would be the japanese empire. our empire would still have probably gone. with a german a-bomb, they'd be speaking german in calais, vladivostock and possibly here.
would we be more or less advanced than we are now?
- probably as advanced but maybe in different ways; certainly culturally different. probably less prosperous without an american economic powerhouse. plus no dodge viper or SVT lightning. which would be a shame.
would we of developed atomic weapons?
- inevitably yes but maybe later because of the sheer financial investment required ($2bn+ in 1945 terms) and the pressure of war - a huge amount of non-American euro-brain power went into the physics of the manhattan project.
would islamics still hate the west?
- undoubtedly: the west would still be perceived as corrupt and degenerate.
