New permanent GATSO on the M42
Travelling Southbound this morning, my detector went off on the M42 between the M6 and Solihull junctions, and sure enough - there was a new GATSO. It was installed (hidden) in one of the new gantries, and painted grey (not yellow) thus very hard to spot. It was over lane 1 (that's the real lane 1, and not the hard shoulder that will become a deathtrap when they open it up for "normal" traffic under their stupid future plans), but i am sure that more will join it soon.
Returning Northbound tonight, i think that it was on the gantry with "29.2" on the blue sign on the left-hand upright.
Still, enforcing compliance to posted speeds (as it is a "variable speed zone", ala the M25) is just one way to **** off the motorist. They coned off lane 1 from the A45 to the M6 at 09:30 tonight for roadworks - thus causing unnecessary congestion for the tail-end of Friday's rush-hour. Why couldn't they wait until later

Well i drove down there again today, and there is another GATSO over the outside lane, which is also beaming out radar.
It is on the Southbound carriageway, approximately half a mile after the M6 on-slip (and before the A45 exit).
Indeed many/most of the new gantries have small "platforms" on the rear (it's behind you!) side - perfectly placed for even more of the sly, snooping, no discretion, evil devices
Take extra care on the 42!!

I'm assuming if I stick to 70mph along the M42 I'll be ok, as long as there are no road works. I'm always wary along there as no one else seems to do above 70mph, but my Snooper goes nuts over "risk zones" along that stretch of motorway.
seemingly, the '42 from 'M5' to the 3A jtcn is ok....i know the sneaky ferks had one on the 3A bend during the roadworks....but it now seens that its from 3A to the M6 (or /and vica versa) thats the 'hot-zone'.....

ref post 1..
correct me if i,m wrong, but ist it a requirement of placement of these little ******* that they must be visible from 100yds/ metres
surely hidden behind a gantry is not clearly visible, and could argueably be a potential defence??

Aha looks like that's what the "HADECS" is...just a load of Gatsos (sort of relived....thought they were going to be some sort of new average speed jobbies)
I started a thread a while back and nobody had a clue: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...&highlight=m42 (some handy links about the proposed scheme in there too )
Looks like I have the answer now (at last), cheers
