Relocating. Any dodgy areas to avoid in Cheshire
Looking at Northwich down as far as Alsager near Crewe, any areas to avoid and what are regarded as good ones, not £1m property areas.
Cheers

Depends whereabouts in Northwich fella, Kingsmead estate is quite new, and not a bad place. Some of the smaller villages are worth a look mebbe?
I'm in Middlewich, its turned into a commuter town, too many people/not enough facilities to cope, including the road network. And the travellers have invaded us, and bought houses??!!

I looked at Barnton as it happens, it seemed quite nice and still close to N'wich for shopping and whatnot. Nice quaint village centre to it etc, past that I can't really comment with any authority.
Acton Bridge is quite nice too, altho it might be a little too quiet ?

I'd recommend you check an insurance website for certain parts of Northwich too, quite a few recent housing projects were a bit too close to the Dane for my tastes
A couple of years ago Crewe had some of the best constructed houses I've ever worked in (a consequence of the massive wealth in the area at the start of the 20th century) going for not much money compared to the surrounding areas, but the prices perked up again recently, probably as a result of the both the Bentley factory doing well, and the railways taking people on again.
PS: Alsager's a bit 'Royston Vasey'

Some good places to eat although Peppers is closing soon
Alsager isn't bad either - my boss has just moved there.
cheapest place for car insurance seems to be Alsager, slightly lower than Nantwich
eg 911 (993) 1994, age 35, 1 accident, no points £700 f/comp
Scoob Legacy B4RSK £850
although i'll probably have a shed for a bit, till I find a gaff and talk the missus into buying something decent

Spent a day up at a wedding in Nantwich a couple of months ago, seemed quite nice, lots of expensive cars around driven by older people ( which is generally a sign of a better area ) - even the couple of chavs we saw in the train station waiting to catch the train were quite polite !

Barnton is rather nice. Rather posh and less riff raff round too
Had an offer yesterday on our house, accepted, promised to keep to the deal then changed their minds today, gutted
Still if anyone has any info on other places, Alsager, Nantwich and Barnton to checkout up to now

Thanks for that, lived in Alsager for 14 years nice enough close to M6 good schools, decent takeaways. Things like Insurance, council tax, property are all cheaper because although it is geographically in Cheshire we all have ST (Stoke on Trent) postcodes.
The university campus is relocating to Crewe ( Manchester Metropolitan Uni) over the next three years so a lot less taxdoggers around, but the word is the site will become 800 houses when the move is completed. Widening of the M6 is the only other thing to be aware of if it does happen getting around will be ridiculous.
You could do a lot worse

hi mate i am a newbie i know but have lived around cheshire all my life family used to be farmers, sorry if i`m boring you a bit stick with me if you can afford it any of following are nice places Knutsford, chelford, ollerton, pickmere, holmes chapel, wilmslow, alderley edge, mere, high legh, congleton obviously these are quite expensive but places to avoid would be winsford, crewe(west st), northwich(rudheath) lacey green(wilmslow), macclesfield,
i am probably sticking my neck out saying them but come on peeps you know i am right not the best places for scooby owners, as for me okay i live in middlewich which is (was) a nice town till FFFFin gypos turned up now theythink they own the place with their tranny vans, horses and dogs (not bitter honest). but hey look on the bright side we have the most expensive council tax in the area, hope this helps?

also lee on another note sandbach is okay got some good pubs with nice eyecandy, not overly keen on barnton meself always that northwich/warrington divide,
i suppose all towns have badbits, peover superior as you called it is the posh name for over peover between knutsford and holmes chapel, i know because my father (bless his sole) had his nursery there where i grow up would love to go back there but is now millionairesville, i believe mowcop near congleton is a cheaper area because it comes under staffordshire council, p.s where in middlewich are you EVOBARRY as perhaps i know you?

You will either love or hate Mow Cop. Spectacular views over the Cheshire Plain, but it is Royston Vasey! It is a bit cheaper than other parts of Cheshire, but it may be further than you want to commute (I'm assuming that's why you are considering Northwich, etc).
Sandbach is pleasant although Ettiley Heath is an estate of modern boxes with each detached house inches from its neighbour. Sandbach prices aren't at the Wilmslow/Knutsford levels.
There are some nice bits of Macclesfield (eg. Sutton) and it is on the edge of the Peak District National Park (and the Cat and Fiddle road), so plenty of hilly scenery on the doorstep and good coutry pubs.
