Hi,
Myself and four fellow asain friends ( ages 18-24) have been planning a holiday to Rome on 30th July, and was booked several months ago.

Due to the recent bombings, everyone seems to be on 'terrorist alert' and I have noticed people giving me an awkward eye when carrying my belongings, which is fair play (i normaly smile and wave back.)

Im a bit concerned about my trip, is it a good idea to just go a head with it, despite the extra chew we will probs get. Of course we will be ok on our side, maybe a spot check or two but what about in Rome, they are already a little anti-Muslim.

whats od guys think, just go ahead with it and of take what comes, or be sensbile, waste all our money and book a trip when things have settled?

cheers guys.
Kam

i would say that if you haven't done anything wrong you shouldn't have a problem. I don't mind being searched (unless it's a bend over job ) because I've got nothing to hide.

Just go away with your mates and have fun

Ahhhh.... Roma Have a fabuloso time - don't worry about the Romans, they are too busy making themselves look beautiful to even notice Have a shot of Limoncello for me - it's a great hair of the dog for the morning after the night before - have it at one of those lovely street cafes with some strong coffee

Don't run for the Train / plane / bus etc and you should be fine .

If anyone stares at you - stare back and maybe give a little nervous twitch - that should put the ****s up them

LMFAO!

Chances are you will look like tourists and you look Asian? - People might well be wary of you for this alone. Sad but a fact of life at the moment. A lot of people are jumpy and sacred.
You might well get stopped and searched, especially at the airports. Easy for me to say but if it was me i would do my best to grin and bare it.

Also, seriously - have a great time!

However have the Italians got troops in Iraq? - I am not sure so are they (Itialians) 'on the list'

You handle the current situation by being Jumpy and scared - I'll use humour.

Besides - The advice is probably quite good TBH

As said above, you've got nothing to hide and nothing to be worried about. Enjoy your trip, if you do get searched the worst thing you can do is make a scene. Just be open and helpful and kind to the security guys, if you don't give them any trouble or reason to suspect you of anything then you won't get any trouble back.

Have a nice hols.
