Default Forward Facing Baby Carseats

Now my son's reached 9mths and 20llb, I'm looking at buying his first forward facing car seat. I've looked at the Britax Eclipse Si, and it seems like a good one to go for. I've seen it in Halfords for £99.99, but I gather can get it cheaper on the net (yet to look!).

Anyone else got this seat, and would you recommend it for safety, features, ease of us etc??

It's going into my RB5 by the way.

Comments appreciated (as there's bloody hundreds of different sorts!!).

Thanks,
SS23.

Does the RB5 have ISOFIX connections?

If so, I would recommend the Brtitax Isofix Duo, as when connected to ISOFIX mountings it is absolutley rock solid.

It can go in none ISOFIX equiped cars, but there's no point in buying it if you'd be mainly using it in one.

Not all seat fit all cars.

We where advised to go to Toys 'R' Us as they have a fitting service, we tried several seats and got one that fitted the car and is a good safe child seat for under £ 100.00 - price was not the issue the best seat/best fit was.

I understand Halfrauds etc offer a similar service.

Babyseats are a bit like crash helmets for motorbikes -- the most important thing is how well and securely it fits into YOUR car, not how expensive etc it is.

As above, if you've got ISOFIX, go for one of those. Britax are a pretty good name, we had two a few years back (non-isofix) but they were easy to secure firmly with the seatbelt.

alternatively you can contact britax to see if you have an authorised speciallist in you area. their customer service dept is excellent and are happy to help.

mothercare world/toys ****/halfrauds are usually excellent too but britax put me on to a guy that fits/sells seats for a living so can easily match the best seat to your car.

We have the Bebe Confort Iseos TT really pleased with it. The width is adjustable so baby always has a snug fit. has been in all 3 of my classic scoobs, no buckle crunch issues, also I can recline the seat when she falls asleep from the drivers seat which is handy, and I'm not double jointed

A great bit of kit

We got a Britax (Roemer) King TS plus. It's one of the leaders for safety on Dutch tests.
Fits perfectly in the Forester (non ISOFIX).

the maxi cosy XP

fits really well due to a seatbelt tensioner built in to the seat.

We've got the Eclipse Si, fits in the 22B, 911 and Audi very well. Britax are definitely one of the leaders in childseat maufacturing, this seat is one of the safest non-isofix ones you can get (assuming it fits your car, which it shoud since it fits the 22). Really easy to fit and use, ours gets swapped car to car on a regular basis.

I'm annoyed, there were some Euro-NCAP style results out for 2005 announced last month, but I can't find them.
