Default home air con units

Anybody know anything about those home air-con units like they sell at B&Q?
I noticed they claim cooling capacities of 8000-12000 btu's, but the suggested room size is a bit on the small size 25m3 for the 10000 btu size and less if its south facing, sounds a bit c**p really..
So a bit of research shows up some brand name units such as bosch etc. which although 2x the price or more and would appear to be of lesser power ~8/9000 BTU cooling capacity, claim to be suitable for rooms up to 85m3.
Am I missing something here? has anybody got/tried any of them?

Thanks.

Also had this problem, had a choice of a 700W(electric power)8000btu with more through put and a 65m3 room size for £695 or a 1100W(electric power)9500btu with less through put and a 35m3 room size for £295. They are for two satallite offices at work. The more expensive one recycles the condensate and jucks it out the hot air exhaust so you don't have to empty the water tank as often.
I've ordered one of each to see what they are like. If it's just a matter of how far they move the air I can put a fan in the room.
The £695 one has arrived and I'm not that impressed, it would be too noisy for home use unless used to cool the oom before you use it and has to be on for ages before you notice any effect. The air coming out is ice cold but there isn't that much of it. The office is 6MX5M, outside temp 32degrees and after four hours the internal temp was 27.5degrees. Still warm but dry air not humid. Will have to see what the other cheaper one is like next week

Have a 4.5kw(electric power) split system in my office, it's blody freezing within a few minutes

Cheers
Lee
