I can only assume then that the year he won the world championship was purely fluke and the fact that the rest of the field were terrible drivers and had awul cars.....

Yeah right! You are of course having a laugh arent you?
I dont really rate David Coulthard but F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport so to even be there you have to be damn good. As for Damon what a great driver, champion and comes across as a really decent bloke.

He is however, Im told from people who've met him. A damn nice bloke

I met him at the BBC when he was at the top of his career - the year that ITV took the coverage away they did their launch show, ironically, at TV Centre. Really, really nice guy and totally genuine.
He also didn't mind being discreetly reminded that I used to paste him when we both raced LCs before he got into cars... He was a nice bloke then, too. Just not as good at racing bikes as he later proved to be in cars...

Another Maserati story!
JC being chased/shot at.... again.....
...yawn! (funnily enough the car that costs £11k more was better)
What was the point telling people that old classics can be given modern parts, then time a standard classic car that had previously broken down??
(and was only fractions of a second quicker than the Suzuki when driven by celebs)
Look the E-type is better better than an Audi TT, but there is a major difference in price.
IMHO another cack episode.

The E type thing echo's my brother in laws experiences with his V12, it starts, belches noxious fumes, makes some impressive noises then overheats and gets put away for another year, the brakes are scary and the handling is crap, the steering wheel does not appear to be directly connected to the front wheels by any mechanical means yet he insists that they shouldnt be modernised, must be original, why ?
I think all original ones should be banned due to safety issues until they are fitted with proper brakes, 260 bhp V12 with comedy brakes, madness. The Honda wasting it wasnt a surprise as even the V12 didnt seem to be that quick, it wouldnt pull away from a Mk2 Golf GTi to his utter disgust and he came out with excuses worthy of even a Scoob owner, he never mentions twisties since he got overtaken on a bend by a 50 year old drunken, nearly blind Shirehorse on rollerskates.

He always comes across as likeable, and I used to speak to his sister when we ran the PR for the Damon Hill fan club back in the mid 90's - very nice family all round.
OK, so Damon Hill was never the best GP driver overall.
However he must be in the top10, we are talking F1 here and the World, damn good in my opinion, what a brilliant driver.
He did win the WC one year so anyone that does that is awesome.
Also Top Gear, great show, don't take the show seriously, laugh with/at JC and it comes across as a cracking show.

Can't understand why Luminous should criticise Damon Hill's ability as a GP driver. He was actually very good indeed, and a world champion, beating Schumacher at the time.
He was a very smooth and fast driver like his father, in fact like most of the really top drivers and the pole position shoot outs were always something to look forward to.
he would have been world champion twice if Schumacher had not deliberately driven him off the track after he had made a serious mistake on his own account.
You should at least know your facts before you criticise.
