London hotels (nice ones) near Buckingham Palace area?

I've stayed at The Rubens at the Palace - you can spit on the palace walls from the door way (as the name suggests).
Standard room was a bit pokey from memory. I was going to say expensive but a quick look at their web site (http://www.rubenshotel.com) shows a double is £85 or a deluxe king is £110 on a Saturday night. Probably still staffed by Australians
Indifferent experience for me but then I'm not a big fan of London hotels in general.
