DVLA are going to start charging £4.50 for you to have a registration document that THEY insist you must have
This will apply to all cars including those exempt from paying road tax also vehicles on sorn etc
This is on top of the £19 fee for documents if you don't have any W.T.F
when are they going to stop seeing motorists as cashcows?

I heard they were going to charge a fee for declaring your car SORN.
So ok, your taxed to keep your car on the road, and your taxed to keep it off the road. WTF?
For example, I buy a road car, and convert it to a race car - so it's not street legal and will never set foot on a public road ever again.
Ok, so if it's not going back on the road and I don't want to pay the SORN "administration fee" what do I do? Get a fine?
Oh I know, I'll send back the V5 and de-register my car. No sir, can't do that...has to be broken up by an authroised scrapper. Arrrgghh!
I know, I'll "sell" it to Joe Blogs (picks address out of phone book and sends off V5) - his problem now
Out with the grinder, and off with the VIN and engine numbers

Unless I'm missing something, surely you'll only have to pay when they issue you a new one i.e. when you buy a car or change your address? It's still crap, though.
Maybe sales of registrations are falling?

Did the sale registrations not net 75 million for the powers that be last year
and are they not gonna make everyone get the photo driving licence aswell which will cost £20 every 10 years x 30 million motorists

They will charge you when you tax the car just to keep THEIR records up to date

Try any classic mag they are not going to make it readily availlable till its to late are they
Just like the £19 fee for lost docs they sneaked that in so they will sneak this in

Never mind, found it.
OK, 1st of all let's edit your original statement to reflect the truth:
DVLA may start charging a £4.50 annual re-registration fee for you to have a registration document that THEY insist you must have, however at the moment it's only 1 option mentioned in a consultation document and may well never happen. You are invited by the DVLA to comment on their proposals.
This will apply to all cars including those exempt from paying road tax also vehicles on sorn etc
This is on top of the £19 fee for documents if you have lost the original and require a replacement, which is £6 less than most banks would charge you for a replacement statement
when are they going to stop seeing motorists as cashcows?

Of the 4 options, option 1 would have no annual fee, option 2 and 3 propose £2.50 annually and option 4 suggests £4.50. They say they're doing it to pay for the extra cost of photocard licences and the 10 year renewal.
Personally, I'm against an annual fee but have no problem with forcing people to pay for lost V5 documents.
Maybe they should direct more money from our VED to cover the shortfall, or is that too obvious actually using a transport tax to pay for transport matters?

Yes i agree in principle you should pay fo LOST docs licence etc but if you buy a damaged car from auction you don't always get the docs you then have to pay for new ones for something you have no control over.
Option 1/2/3 propose a change of owner fee of £7.50 another stealth tax on owning a car
