I've got next to nowt really! I moved into my first house a year ago, I have nothing from before then but I've started to keep hold of stuff recently, statements and stuff.

What's the point though, what do you gain from keeping stuff, I know I'm skint I don't need evidence

I used to everything, but a 3 year old bill is no use to anyone. I know throw everything out very quickly, but keep all bank statements as these are often asked for when applying for Mortgages etc.

You forgot 6. Whatever will fit in the drawer until the missus throws her hands up and starts sorting it to make some more space.

God knows how many years worth I've got. One of these days I'll get a scanner so I can bin most of the paper versions

BTW for those of you who throw them away immediately, your supposed to keep about three years worth of financial records just incase the inland revenue start questioning your tax bill.

The last ten years bank statements. All bills are paid straight away and then binned.

You get my vote for being a mod Andy. Think of the havock / order you could introduce were you armed with the vape thread button during your drunken cleanup!

I keep as many as I can for as long as I can. Why not keep them? I have a filing cabinet with at least one empty draw. Before I fill the *******, I hope to have a bigger ******* and keep going.

Then, if things get tough...

got the last 3 and 1/2 years worth (since we bought our first house, even got bills going back to our old house I bet) suppose u only need the last 3 months worth... as said banks will give u a copy of a statement etc but whats the point in paying £10 for each month, they rip u off as it is
