Bose Wave Systems - Experience?
Thinking of ditching the £1000's of pounds worth of hi-fi for something more compact in the bedroom...anyone have opinions (from experience!) of this:

I've heard both the big and little Bose Wave things. They are ok, but over priced for what they are. They don't sound anything like proper hi-fi, but are a good upgrade from a transistor radio. The design of the boxes enhances the bass performance but IMO they are nothing to get excited about.

There was one of those in my hotel room in Vegas. Used the CD and radio, it was absolutely rubbish IMO. My small Roberts mono radio sounds just as good, for about a tenth of the price!
Stick with the hi-fi, or buy some compact stuff like Cyrus

I have to admit i once went into a hifi shop and asked what setup was on,they told me a Bose system. It sounded awesome. However if you ask on any hifi forum they are looked down on as all style and no substance.

Ok for a kitchen radio, but who wants to pay a grand for a kitchen radio

We've got one... sounds brill.
a rich deep quality sound.
when they first came out they were £1k
Think we paid £500 for the Bose Wave Radio.
well worth a listen to IMO

My brothers flat mate got a bose wave radio thing. Sounded rather good IMHO. We did put it up against my brother's B&O system and it was actually a lot better than we thought it would be.
It's got a money back deal, so give it a whirl, see if you like it, if not, return it. simple really.

I've never heard the wave system but I have a Lifestyle Bose set-up which I've had for 5 years. For the money (£1200) I didn't hear anything that came close, IMHO. The only thing I'd swap my Bose for is a quality valve amp and electrostatics.
