The Corrs ruined Little Wing :(
I had Little Wing blasting out my car speakers a while back. My friend said "whos copied the Corrs?" i was like "ayyyy? Hendrix dd this"
she was like "oh well the corrs have done this"
Just listened to it and what a bag of ****e!
I really wish people wouldnt copy good musicians unless its a lot better. But bloody hell them corrs have ****ed up a beautiful classic

PG,
agree hendrix version is the best although the corrs guitarist ain't bad and did a reasonable job, sting also did a version which is ok. Yep and the other sentiments regarding jamelia, yep her vocal is way too weak to even come close to Sam Brown's although I do like the scissor sisters and their version of comfortably numb is pretty good IMHO and quite different to the original floyd version.

Covers rarely come close to the original, my fave cover was Dear Prudence by the Banchees. It is a sign of older age when people around you think the cover is new though!
IMHO Little Wing shouldn't be touched by anyone, except maybe by Clapton or Knopfler

Mind you, Maria Carey's butchery of Nilsson's Without You still makes me feel more than a little nauseous

"Without You" was actually by Badfinger. Nillsson's version was a cover as well.
Wogan played the Badfinger version yesterday.

Unlike The Corrs, who stab a sugary dagger through the heart of every song they touch. The girls look stunning, and they can sing/play, but frankly, they're cruise ship material

Only decent Hendrix cover i've ever heard was Stevie Ray Vaughan doin' Little Wing.
And that Scissor Sisters cover of Comfortably Numb is amazingly **** poor. What was going on in their heads, lets take the song with the greatest guitar solo ever and do it in the style of the Bee Gees.

"Ooh, it's such fun, they're so camp." Yes, but if I want camp, Erasure doing Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight will do the job well. Just taking a song and doing it in a 70's disco style is no better than Stars On bloody-45, and makes William Shatner's latest output seem (almost) listenable.

Blinded by the Light - another cover of a Springsteen song that was way better than the original. My personal opinion is that it's the version you hear first that tends to be the one you prefer
PS Muppet Paster surely you mean the SECOND greatest guitar solo ever
EVERYBODY knows the greatest is contained within Sweet Home Alabama

Generally agree with your point though about "first version you hear". Not always the case though with "Like a Rolling Stone" as mentioned above.
