Question Any1 imported a car from Southern Ireland??

Help me please!!!!

A couple of months ago i was given, by a family friend, a jeep after it snapped its cambelt while he was over here in Scotland working. I have since replaced the engine and had the jeep MOT'd.

I now want to register it in this country and possibly use it through the winter so i phoned the dvla and explained this...."i'll send you an application pack" was the response. A few days later a huge pile of forms arrived at my door with no indication of which forms to use. GREAT!

So i phoned back to ask which forms they needed and nobody seemed to know! They did say i must prove the VAT has been payed. How? Car was imported to Southern Ireland in 1998 and has had 3 previous owners since then, though VAT must have been paid at time of registration in Ireland must it not??

Any information as to the process i need to follow would be hugely appreciated. I'd go to my local dvla office but its a 120 mile round trip and i work the same hours they do.

Thanks in advance, KGB.
