Finland
I'm going to watch the rally of Finland next weekend.
It's the first time that I've been to Finland. Can anybody tell me what its like over there ?
I'm going with 5 other mates so it should be a good laugh. A lot of people have told me that the women are really 'easy' out there !! LOL
Does anybody know what it is really like and what to watch out for ?????
Thanks
WD

People are dour...due to the COLD climate, lots of smoked fish available, Helsinki is a bit....er......sad ? Lots of thick wolley tights for sale in the shops ! ha ha ...oh and only a hydrofoil ride away from Estonia... Tallin....now that's more interesting.

I'll be there.
I don't doubt beer is expensive, but it would have to be very very expensive for me not to drink it!
A guy who lives in Finland told me the flys are not that bad this time of year, but I am taking some spray anyway.

Beer is a bit dear, but not as bad as people make out - I was more shocked at the prices of beer in Dublin tbh. If you get the chance, go to Helsinki - great place, loads to do and see.
As you'll be out in the lakes area - definitely take anti mosquito sprays / creams and also anything you can put on the bites afterwards. Take the usual suncreams etc - Finland seems to get a lot hotter than the UK, and their days are longer too.
Scenery wise, the place is lovely (if you like lakes and forests). See if you can get some crayfish whilst your there - the lakes are full of them, and they're really nice.
The people have a different culture to us - their humour is somewhat dry, and they tend to be abrupt, seemingly lacking in manners when asking for "BEER!"...
That said, they're a friendly bunch (I've worked with the Finnish for the last 5 years) and my 2 trips over there have been very enjoyable.
You'll have a great time.

Summer has been pretty wet this year, so a productive year for the mosquitos! Hoping for sunshine for the rally...
