They are just checking your details - its a secure server - I am sure my £30k from my current account has just gone missing in the system somewhere!
Someone, somewhere, will fall for this!

Barclays had this problem, the scammers were using the exact URL as barclays official website but without the "S" in the HTTPS thus making it an insecure connection, even copied the homepage word for word, as pete says, some poor sod will fall for it

Hello
What your message doesn't show is where is takes you if you click on the link. The link that you provided is the correct one. It's a Lloyds TSB page, nothing fake about that. But I'm guessing that the real URL was hidden underneath that one?
Steve.

It is a scam...it's just the way it's been cut and pasted.
It's fine if clicked on in this bbs.
but if you click this link:
https://online.lloydstsb.co.uk/applypassword.ibc
Like you would in the e-mail - the link "looks" ok...but it takes you somewhere else with a replica lloyds TSB webiste to trick you and get your details.
It's rife, it happens with ALL the major banks, eBay, Paypal and almost any other big company that has your credit details. Bottom line is, any company or bank will NEVER ask for your full password or PIN over e-mail or over the phone.
And access secure sites via the banks/companies front page on their website (i.e type it in yourself) DO NOT click the links that are provided in e-mails
