I bought mine at Currys .Its one of the Sony digital camcorders and I burn cds of my videos.Remember to ask if the firewire cable is being provided with the camcorder.I was provided with USB cable but it wont work.I had to buy firewire cable for tranferring the film onto Laptop/PC separately for 20 quid. Its not much but shops should clearly suggest that USB lead is useless. Then you can ask them to throw one in.Worth a try!
BTW,you can buy a camcorder which tapes directly on cd.Check out the websites.

I've just brought a Canon MV750i (£369 from Pixmania) haven't really had a chance to use it. Not the smallest MiniDV camera but has all the usual things on it plus AV-in which is one of the main reasons I brought it (gonna get a bullet cam and fit it to the car - connects to the AV-in of the camcorder).
Can second the lack of firewire cable! was most upset that they don't include one in the box!!
