Default Company Relocation Entitlements

Morning...

Has anyone any idea on the legalities of a company moving, approx 30 miles..

Am I entitled to anything, for fuel/running costs, or for the extra time driving?

Are there any laws in place, or is it down to the employer to decide?

Cheers

Chris

Don't know if there is any law in place, but (having seen this happen a few times) it is usual for the employer to offer something such as a one-off payment if you are expected to have additional travel.

If the distance is sufficient (and 30 miles may not be), you could be looking for relocation expenses if you wanted to move house to somewhere nearer.

If the move meant that it was impractical for you to commute the extra distance (disability, etc.) you would have a strong case for redundancy/constructive dismissal.

Ah.. cheers.. Thats what I expected, wont be relocating as it'll only be about 35 miles in total.. I had just hoped there were some legal type guidelines..

There is a distance (can't remember what it is) that if the company moves more than, then it must offer voluntary redundancy. I'll have a look around and see if I can work out what it is...
