for me, there will never be better tea than you get out of those big stainless steel pots in the caf. where they pour out a tiny biot of tea that is so strong it eats inot the mug, and then top up with steaming water and milk. that is tea. everything else is a pale immitation.

I maintain that tea is a drink for old women!

Also, I hate to think how many working hours we lose each year because the British workforce has to pander to their ritual tea routines every half an hour!

If you like strong tea then the NAAFI brand is the one for you.

Talking

Good cup of tea-PG or Typhoo, one sugar, milk

Bad cup of tea-Lipton. No wonder the French don't drink tea that much

At last, an interesting thread in NSR! I'm from Muppets you know.

I do like a nice cup of tea, but not every ten minutes. Four times a day is my quota.

Currently (well, about the last ten years), I'm with the Tetley tea folk.

Swill the mug with cold water, place one teaspoon of white sugar and one round teabag in t'cup (I don't really talk like that, I'm putting it on). Fill with boiling water to within ¾" of the top. Scwidge the teabag to expel any air and stir three or four times. Leave to brew for c.2 minutes. Remove teabag, scwidging to remove excess liquid. Top up mug with full cream milk. Ahhh, luvly.

More tea vicar?

No No No Sir, that just won't do - You have committed the cardinal sin of shocking the fat in the milk by pouring it into the hot water. By God man, don't you know that you should ALWAYS put the milk in with the T-Bag THEN put the hot water in !!

Post quali-tea

Dear oh dear...you are neglecting the most basic of tea making rules fellow tea addicts You need to use loose leaves and not bags! I recommend Scottish Blend loose tea if you have proper water and not the 'hard' stuff these poor southerners are forced to drink. Then you need to add the required amount to your pot (which of course you warm before actually brewing the tea). Add boiling water, let it infuse for around 5 minutes and then pour into a mug through a strainer before adding milk or sugar. Be sure to top up the pot so you can enjoy a second dose when you finish the first in record time

enjoy....!

P.S. ajm: tea is the drink of the gods....coffee I could live without ;p

I agree with the above bar 3 points.
1) How can you forget to use the Benny style tea cosy on the pot?
2) Only fill the cup to two-thirds, then top up with hot water from kettle.
3) Wherever possible, get the boy in the office to make it! (Darren, take note!)

Tea bag in cup (what ever is around) put in some boiling water, then swirl the tea bag around in the cup a few times, press HARD against the cup to extract all goodness and then add milk and 1 sugar Simple

Oh and by the way Steaming Wizard, I'm gonna make tea all week just so you miss out

I used to drink tea black as a kid and loved it. Then got into coffee which I preferred. Tried tea white recently and its pretty refreshing - gotta be fairly strong though not just milky water.

Prefer coffee over tea as more options and more of a kick but seem to go through phases of drinking one or the other and never really both.

Simon.

P.S. Have tea at work as Nescafe is the worse excuse for coffee known to man.

Well my boy, looks like I'll just have to cope with drinking cold beer in my garden soaking up the sunshine then!

Have a good week at work won't you!

Take it easy bud,
