Default Milk Teeth?

My eldest son is slowly losing his milk teeth and is now hish adult teeth are showing signs of coming through. This got me wondering why it is we lose our first set of teeth so early?

It would be more logical to grow a set of teeth that would last say until age 30 and then get a new set to last you the rest of your life.

As the human species eveolved 30 would have been considered a ripe old age, so new teeth beyond this would probably not been needed.
Its probably more to do with how our diet habbits change as we get older at a guess.
