The boy whose skin fell off
I'm speechless after watching it! I wasn't going to watch it to start with and then realised as the mrs pointed out he didn't make the programme for people to switch off.
The agonising pain he went through and others are going through now just isn't even comprehensible
To go through that for 36 years demonstrates bravery to levels I could never meet. The shots of his back when his dressings were being changed really brough it home to what he was really suffering.
Nature has some ******* awful and cruel ways of ruining peoples lives
I thought he was incredible and to have a sense of humour while in that much suffering is quite amazing to me.
Another amazing quality programme by CH4 who to me are becoming the number 1 channel on TV.

I have to agree.
It left me in tears, what a life and as you have already said still to have such a sense of humour.
Makes me gratefull of my life just the way it is.

Didnt see it but read about him in the paper , what a brave chap I couldnt cope with anything like that , most of us probably moan about silly little things which are nothing compared to what he went through.

What a sad programme (it gave me puffy eyes).
Changing the bandages looked horrible, I can't imagine how painful that was.
For some of us it was also a reminder of family/friends who were terminally ill.
Its a good wake up call to let us know our own problems really aren't that bad after all.

My Wife didn't stop crying until about midnight after watching this, very sad programme but on the other hand very inspirational.
Did he die on the journey back home from London or a few days later? I couldn't quite work it out as I was getting tissues for the missus.

What a nice chap
I have eczma (never could spell it!) so I have an little idea as to how he must have suffered, albeit a million times less. The pain both I and my brother have been through pails into insignificance after seeing this guy...I really felt for him when I saw his back!
I hope some good comes of his suffering.

From what I gathered from the programme they have had a break through in healing the damaged skin in lab tests they have done. I really hope that this leads to a cure for all the people and little children who suffer this horrendous disease The pictures of children currently suffering shown at the end was most upsetting thinking what they have to go through.

Amazing sense of humour in the face of such pain! When he asked the undertaker about his coffin:
Jonny: "have you got any ideas where I can store this then?"
Undertaker:
Jonny: "cos I won't be needing it straight away!"
and the bit where he said he could see down Nell McAndrew's top!!

I think his Mum deserves a medal for what she must have endured over the past 30 odd years.
Like she said, imagine picking up your baby to give them a cuddle and blistering their skin as result, I couldn't cope with that.

just watched it this morning after recording it on sky+
What an amazing man to be able to laugh and joke in the face of so much pain, a very brave man and an inspiration.

I soooooo wanted to see this programme and had a reminder set for about a week.
She must have ignored the reminder and switched on E4 to watch bloody Friends.
Another vote for a repeat showing here!
Sounds like I missed a really interesting documentary.

I hate TV at the best of times and rarely does a programme ‘move’ me, but I must admit; I was blown away by this guy’s courage and determination. Such a sense of humour after such a life – quite sobering.
His brother’s words at the funeral summed it up really.

I had to knock it off when I saw him shopping for his own coffin. I plucked up the courage to flick back only to see him lying dying on the bed after the visit to No 10. If there is a God, he truly is a ****.

Have read the synopsis on the C4 website. A very very brave man indeed. I don't think I'd have a sense of humour after all that. As others have said, it really does put things into perspective.
