Shopping someone for income tax dodging?
I know of someone severely dodging tax (ie not paying any at all)- dont really think its right to be honest.
Theoretically-does anyone know where you can report someone for tax dodging?
Anonymously/non anonymous- doesnt make a difference.
Quick scope of the Inland revenue site didnt reveal much.

At the end of the day you pay income tax for the public services you use (even though they aren't very good!) so we are all in effect paying for this dishonest person to use the NHS etc.

Secondly, perhaps you would like to elaborate on your position, in particular why the rest of us should pay for the deficit of non payers income tax, oh and your granny's TV license?

and i cant understand why there have been so many replies that pretty much say "you're a ***** if you shop him". do you guys who've said that not realise that by him not paying taxes, it effectively makes them higher for everyone else?
likewise for that dude's granny... those of us that do pay tv license have to pay more because some people don't pay it. in other words, i'm paying for (some of) your gran's tv license. so post her address details and i'll shop her in. if everyone shopped people who freeloaded, long-term rates and taxes would be lower.
milo
(a *****, apparently)

I agree as well to say something....
....Why should we have to pay for other peoples greed?
and as for minding our own business and getting on with our lives, it is made our business when we have to pay more because of it.
I'm all up for paying tax (maybe a little lower wouldn;t hurt! ) but i'm not up for paying other people tax who are to selfish to put in their fair share like every other tax-paying citizen.

Too many freeloaders in this country. Evading 100% of his dues in respect to income tax is a VERY serious offence in my opinion.
Why should I pay for scum (for that is what they are, plain and simple) to avoid paying his dues to the country.
Yes, he's one of many, but that doesn't mean that we should ignore it because he's one of many and it won't make any difference overall.
One less evader means more money overall for public services.
Shop him ASAP.

The less revenue the goverment has, the more taxes will go up and/or the worse public services will become.
You want the govermemt to provide public services for free do you? How exactly does that work? No money, no services. Simple.

Luan Pra bang - Was that comment aimed at me? One hopes not. If it was, well, sorry, this chap is evading the taxation system that nearly all of us, begrudingly pay into, why should he get away with it whilst the rest of us dont? He is doing something that is illegal and deserves to be punished, simple as that.
It's the same as people fraudlently claiming benefits, they should be shopped as well, and yes, I have shopped somone for that before, quite sucesfully in fact, serves the bugger right in my opinion.
We pay taxes to provide public services, so this git is getting them for free, and that's not on. Personally I think there should be much stronger penalties for tax evasion and fraudulent benefit claiming, maybe make them work in a waste reclaimation plant or something?

To me, serious tax evasion and benefit fraud is black & white. You cannot claim you didn't realise you weren't committing fraud very easily (I'm sure someone will prove me wrong!).
Therefore, penalties should include 50% loading on tax you pay for the next n years in the case of income tax evasion as well as repayment of tax avoided. This avoids costs involved in jailing someone (which taxes pay for), but severely restricts the persons lifestyle for n years. Even better, employ them in a 60 hour week goverment job so that they don't have any free-time to do jobs on the side.

I like it! the idea of sending someone to jail for tax evasion is a joke, we end up paying for them to be inside when the crime they commited is not paying tax, so we pay more to keep them inside

Cool...you've just got your own personal blackmail victim
the plan
a) Get some proof
b) Tell him that unless he pay's you 75% of his back taxes in cash, you'll shop him without hesitation
c) Give the money to your local community centre, local wrinklies home or whatever (morally correct bit to keep all the PC brigade happy ) to get his ill-gotten gains back into the community where it's needed .... (or buy yourself that cheeky WRX STi Type RA Spec C Limited that you've been hankering after)
d) Then shop him...anyway, cos let's face it, you ain't too keen on the pr1ck Hopefully, they'll fine his sorry *** and the IR will get dosh back from it... so the 'people' score twice out of this guy
e) If you have any money left over, then pay to go and get your broken legs pinned back together privately as his stolen tax revenue has contributed to leaving our underfunded NHS in it's current state.
or

so...
you shopped him yet? come on, we need to know!
The blackmail idea sounds good though. Problem is you'd be in the position to be an accomplice to tax evasion so would no doubt get the rubber glove treatment too, which is not so nice.

My friend has the following to say about those who think we should not shop this chap:
"oh right - you are such generous people that you feel obliged to subsidise these individuals when they are more than likely more flush than you - how magnanimous of you - looking for a medal are you?"

Yup, my friend does, and I'd go so far as to say they have strong feelings on this issue.
Happy - maybe they are. If you were to refer the person to the IR Tax Enquiry Center then they would no doubt look at this and if it was the case then ignore the claim they were tax dodging. I don't think they'd launch an all out assult on the person before checking all the information at hand (hmm, well, mabye they would)
Oh and Happy, my friend said:
"oh purleeeeez give us some credit/intelligence"
