Default Ebay

Is it as easy as some people say selling stuff on Ebay I mean can you go and buy any old crap from a car boot or jumble sale and sell it for more than you paid for it?

I'd say it was the other way round.

Buy dirt cheap from Ebay and sell privately at a very big markup.
I Buy computers/components from Ebay and make a profit of around £1K per month by selling on privately.

Wink

Works both ways in reality.

I don't why, but I've witnessed feeding frenzies on eBay the likes of I've never seen at a traditional auction. It's hard to explain why some folk pay more for 2nd hand goods when they could buy the same thing brand new.

Cheers

There was someone on here a couple of weeks ago who sold a pair of crystal side repeaters to someone in the US for £160!!

because ebay are clever in their marketing (and lots of people are sheep). they call it "winning" an auction and "beating" other bidders. people like to win and beat people.

yep some of the stuff sells for silly money, gadgets always go for silly money I think or you take the risk and buy them from overseas at a reasonable price but can get clobbered for import duty.

As for buying from car boots and selling on ebay, well depends what you buy, I went to a few car boots and they are just full of complete tat. Things like when the auction ends are very important too IMHO.

cheers

My rule fro Ebay is check for the new price on an item and never bid more than 50% of that.
If you don't win then there will always be another one on sale.
Car boot sales are in another league - but you have to be early or you just see the dross.

Chap here at work is turning over a reasonable sum of money buying stuff locally (PC/HiFi etc from local paper/car boots) and reselling on ebay.

Often a quick cosmetic clean-up and some nice photos can double the value.

Thumbs up

Been having a clear out of old junk from the garage and attic etc. Raised over £500 in three weeks from stuff I thought was almost valueless. And there's plenty more to go yet

ebay can be good, but it's a lot dearer to sell on there than I thought it would be. Also as a seller paypal fees are a pain too.
