'City' shirts

What are my option for decent quality city shirts - I've always had Thomas Pink but I think the quality is ****e (they fray very quickly round the cuffs and collar) , and they have soem hideous designs - and at near £70 a pop they're not worth it anymore...
Got a couple of TM lewin shirts, which fit nicely, but quality is not so good, and crap patterns. Also got a Hurlingham shirt which is nice, but no shops round here. So any other recommendations for decent shirtmakers - going to try the new Hawkes & Curtis shop - or should I get them made now? Any recommendations?

I need a city shirt (ie without breast pocket as opposed to one with 'Goater' on the back) because no-one apart from IT boys wear shirts with pockets in the 'City'....
Just bought a couple of Haines & Bonner shirts soI'll see what they're like in terms of quality/fit etc. Anyone know how much Turnball & Asser's shirt are?
Paying £70 - £100 for a shirt - it's like wearing a Rolex

second tel's tip the M&S Italian, I have some that are a few yrs old now and still look like new. Mind you I tend to change them everyday unlike the stinking gits I used to share an office with in England who seemed to wear the same one all week.

Ah, the smell of the lower orders - the non-rolex wearing, Next-suit wearing, pocket-shirted hoi polloi...
PS - Anyone have any non-**** taking useful comments on decent shirts?

I agree - Thomas Pinks are a load of pants in terms of quality. I generally wear Lewins, Van Heusan, Charles Tywritt and M&S. There is always a deal or sale on somewhere so I buy the £70 shirts normally at half that price.
Links of London do lovely cufflinks and collar stiffeners if that floats your boat. Just watch out for the great unwashed on the journey home on the tube (or from the office foyer to the back seat of the Bentley).

M&S Sartorial are OK, didn't think much of the Italian range.
Burberry do some decent ones, excellent cut. Don't know prices of Turnbull but I did get some for my bro a few years back and he liked them. Prob around £90.
In the States and Far East there's a company called Ascot Chang who do nice stuff. Have a look on the web, I'm sure they do mail order, too.

what? You'll all be telling me you wear off-the-peg suits next.
I used to use ironing services, but they were crap - but the wife does a reasonable job - does that count as 'maid service'?
So I take it no-one wears nice shirts then, although everyone seems to have Rolex's - a nice shirt is discreet (no logos) and like a well-fitted suit makes you feel like a king.

A suit? Not a chance. Shirt and casual trousers in the bank where I work, far more comfy than any suit
You obviously dont have a lot to worry about if your shirts and tailor made suits are one of your main concerns/priorities in life
Why do you want to feel like a king? Is it required where you work to be so pretentious? Or you just like looking down on people?
Are you judged by how expensive the clothes you wear to work are? Thankfully where I work its what you do and how you do it that counts, not how much you spend on a shirt or who made your suit for you
