Red face

Tonight, for the second day in a row, the traffic lights were out at my junction on the M5 causing a massive queue all the way back about a mile up the motorway.

I decided, for experimental purposes, to abandon my normal considerate driving style and live up to the expectations of all the anti-bmw people on here and drive like a total ****, doing all the things that normaly wind me up. I cut up, undertook and queue jumped and you know what?......

it felt great! and as an added bonus I got home 5 minutes earlier

So.... tomorrow, if the lights are out again, should I take a deep breath and resume normal considerate driving..... or shall I once again unleash the **** within?

over to you...

When occasion calls, it's great fun. Don't do it myself unless it's absolutely necessary, but yes, it IS fun.

Last drove like a hoon on Sunday. Actually, to be honest, it wasn't me driving, but I was the one calling out the Lanes to hop into!

Whats more, the MG loved it!

However, if it wasn't absolutely essential then it's just too dangerous. You have to look out twice as much for numpties changing lanes without indicating, drifting all over the place and suddenly braking.

to be honest I was expecting more votes against... maybe the guilt of hypocrisy is holding them back?

Thats really weird that you posted this today because I drove like a total moron today as well I was actually thinking that next year in say mid-jan I'd have a wee experiment: One week I'll drive to work like a man possessed and undertake, speed, be agressive, etc and the next week I'll drive at the speed limit, be careful, nice to other drivers, etc. Then I'll compare how I a) Feel b) the time it takes c) whether I have any points on my license

I drive like that to work every morning, 'coz I'm always running late! Saves about 7 minutes. I drive a Saxo VTS so people kind of expect it anyway! Best is when you out do a BMW, not so good is when they then follow you all the way to work 'coz their car is having a service there...d'oh.

The way you chose present tense there Mart360 makes you sound as if you know first hand?

Anyhow, I didn't say I did anything that directly endangered life, I said I drove like a c*nt, i.e. just like all the other people that normally push past me!

Try to drive from N London to S London without driving like a coont and it'll take you a good 30 mins longer than it would with 'normal' London driving.

The bottom line is though: No matter what I do I will not cause another driver to adjust their speed or direction. Even if I pull out with 3 feet () to spare I will nail in through the gears so that they don't have to do anything other than maintain speed. This is such basic manners yet just tonight someone pulled out into the outside lane doing 55ish mph when I was doing 85!!!! I had to slam on the brakes to avoid going into the back of him!!! Now tell me who is more dangerous

Face it you're in a BMW - you have just finally gone over to the dark side. It was inevitable!

Carry on driving like a **** is my vote - just about every other BMW driver does so why should you be any different?

Merc drivers (big, old mercs) are the worst. Although, some nobber in an old 525i decided that his left only lane was a forward lane too and didn't like me closing the gap to make him break hard, tonight. W@nker

i thought lorries RULE the road. Whenever one of them is beside me on the roundabout I just want to get away asap Last time I didn't even had time to blow my horn, the guy switched lanes on the roundabout without indicating so quick that i had no choice but to swerve away and go round again

If a lorry's turning right, they will inevitably be either straddling 2 lanes or be in the left lane. They have to compensate for the trailer. Something which most car drivers fail to realise, unfortunately.

I have to say, I am very surprised that the majority seem to be in favour of blasting the pondlife into the dirt and shoving to the front of the queue!

Maybe the Scoobynet lefty liberals have not got up yet?

I hope when you get to the front and great big traffic car is waiting, then don't come on here whinging how you lost your license, Dangerous driving is not big and certainly is not clever, take it from someone who nearly lost his life from a guy driving dangerous, sorry to P*ss on your parade.

Scoob99,

Once again, I didnt drive dangerously, I drove selfishly! Newton's 3rd law is a deterrant enough for me not to want to collide with anything. The aim of the experiment is to make my journey time less (at the expense of everyone elses journey time) not to become part of a mangled pile of scrap!

Amazingly the majority think this is acceptable, afterall, life is competitive is it not?

Nothing makes me more angry than ***** pushing in in front of me or forcing me to brake when they pull in to a space that doesn't exist.
So here's my strategy.
If I'm in a good tolerant mood then I go with the flow, don't bother changing lanes and don't push in. Others do it to me but what the hell it's their life.
If I'm in a bad or intolerant mood then I cut right to the front and push in. Change lanes every time the one I'm in slows and race away from the lights.
It's not because I need to get there any faster, it's a defence mechanism.....
If I'm pushing in it's much harder for anyone to do it to me any stress me out.....
Slightly twisted logic I know but as a coping mechanism it seems to work.
