In an M3.

It appears that there are now some permananent speed traps on some French Autoroutes. This guy was caught north of Reims.

The fine was EUR 750 + 60 days in prison (55 days were suspended).

I don't know if he is also facing a ban or any points on his UK licence.

The following links are all in French..

Isn't that a better way than a 6month ban though ?
Take the five days as holiday from work ,pay your money, pick up your car on the way out and drive home ?

Unhappy

Une vitesse de 233 km/h avait finalement été retenue, pour tenir compte du pourcentage d'erreur potentiel.
Actually nicked for 233 km/h = 145 mph. Still scope for a Scoob to get the record

Installés il y a trois semaines, les dix-sept premiers radars automatiques sur les routes de France ont flashé 40 .000 automobilistes en excès de vitesse.
Three weeks x 17 cameras = 40,000 speeders At £60/head = £2.4m or £140k per camera. Easily paid for themselves in no time. Expect the plague to spread real quick.

Red face

The news article video is great. It shows the gendarmes demonstarting how dangerous that speed is by doing 140mph in a Peugeot 307 The M3 is probably safer than the peugeot at half that speed!

Note: not fixed cameras.

Wink

Blimey...which stretch of road was it?
We've been to Reims before and hit the limiter several times in top gear......won't be going again then.....least not in the scoob!

He handled it all wrong, why did he stop? He should have waved his passport at them and put his foot down. Who are the French to presume what speed we can do on ground that, had it not been for allied intervention, would have been German!
